The last DPS update was installed with very few problems…. So when the next major upgrade, version 1.4.08, was installed over the weekend, lots of people were wondering if it would be another “quiet” installation. Unfortunately, it appears that the recent update has caused some significant problems related to the SIT process in the DPS computer system.

…Today is second day of the Peak Season “Hotwash”, a meeting between various stakeholders to review the past peak season and suggest changes for the 2012 peak season. A similar meeting was held last year after the challenging 2010 peak season, and apparently proved useful enough to be held again this year. The most anticipated, discussed, and dreaded peak season in recent memory has finally arrived. The 2011 personal property moving peak season officially began yesterday, but it seems like we have been talking about it since the end of last peak season. Recently SDDC sent out a message… making some last minute policy adjustments and reminders in an attemp to alleviate some of the capacity concerns for this peak season.
The first policy change announced by SDDC was a temporary suspension

Another change that has been discussed is the possibility of SDDC issuing SIT saturation notices this summer, in order to allow TSPs to bill delivery out of SIT from actual storage location.

While much of it centered on what has or hasn’t been done to alleviate the problems from last season, there was one area of discussion that could alleviate some of the peak season problems.

SDDC recently released its first updates to the 2011 400NG and International Tender, containing a handful of changes on various topics. While most of the new language contained helpful clarifications, one change may have added more uncertainty.
Numerous issues were raised… about the change to base mileage for delivery out of SIT from Block 18 of the GBL, including timing of the application of Block 18 and shipments that change destinations after acceptance. In response, SDDC added the following phrase
