A Trifecta of Problems

As of 11 AM CST this morning, we have been unable to access DPS, CWA, or PowerTrack all morning. DPS had a scheduled downtime that was supposed to end at 5 AM, but it has not come back up yet. CWA is also inaccessible, and while we can login to PowerTrack, there is no other functionality that seems to be working. While it is not unusual for DPS to be down, it is less common to have problems with CWA…

Payment Delays for I-22 Shipments

Over the course of the last week, there has been a growing number of I-22 International invoices that have gone into Audit Exception in PowerTrack (PT) due to CE07 rating errors in CWA. CE07 rating errors mean that the CWA rating engine was unable to identify the rate area to correctly rate the invoice. This is not a new error, but is appearing on a much larger scale that usual.
We have opened a help ticket with the CWA Help…

Webbots, Captchas, and DPS

The launch of DPS has been hindered by numerous login issues that have prevented TSPs and PPSOs from being able to reliably access DPS through the ETA system. It appears now that the government has identified excessive login attempts by webbots (automated computer programs that interact with a website) as the source of the problems. Their solution to the problem has been to implement a CAPTCHA system (where a user is forced to decipher and type the letters seen in…

It is important to understand that this naming change applies to all Phases of the previously titled Families First program. The Defense Personal

TOPS Shutdown Means a Return to Paper Invoices

Last week we got a call from DFAS-Indy concerning the effect on the decommissioning of TOPS. The current schedule calls for the shutdown of TOPS by April 30, 2009, a few months after the worldwide roll out of DPS. Once TOPS is off-line, no new shipments can be booked into that system, but of course shipments previously booked can continue to be invoiced for up to three years.
Unfortunately, by summer of 2009, DFAS-Indy plans to shut down its internal…
