New Smart Book Offers Sneak Peak of Tomorrow’s DPS Update

JPMO-HHGS has just posted version 25 of the DPS Smart Book on their Move.mil website. (You can download the pdf by clicking here). The main change to this Smart Book is the comprehensive review of changes contained in DPS version 1.4.07, which is scheduled to be released into DPS production tomorrow.

In addition to listing all of the contained changes and fixes, the Smart Book also includes extensive screen shots of the changes, allowing TSPs to preview what the DPS changes will look like after the update is installed. It also includes screen shots of PPSO’s screens as well, which may be helpful to see a side of DPS that is not readily available to TSPs.

Of particular interest is probably the TSP-Agent declaration section starting on page 24 of theSmart Book. It shows how the agent affiliation form is added to the shipment acceptance screen. It also includes a sample of the email that will be sent upon booking, so TSPs can see what the service member will be receiving.

JPMO-HHGs should be commended for releasing this detailed and thorough overview of the changes. It gives the TSPs a chance to see what is coming, and prepare for the changes before they are live on the screen. In addition, being able to see information from the PPSO or service member’s side can only help the communication between all parties.
