New Smart Book Offers Sneak Peak of Tomorrow’s DPS Update

JPMO-HHGS has just posted version 25 of the DPS Smart Book on their Move.mil website. (You can download the pdf by clicking here…). The main change to this Smart Book is the comprehensive review of changes contained in DPS version 1.4.07, which is scheduled to be released into DPS production tomorrow.

IAM Panel Discusses Claims Issues

At their recent Annual Meeting in Denver, the International Association of Movers (IAM) held a panel discussion on claims. Peg Wilken, chair of the IAM Claims Committee, hosted two Military Claims Office (MCO) representatives and two industry claims panelists on a wide-ranging discussion of claims-related topics. Each panelist shared some information, and then answered questions from Peg and the audience during the two-hour session.
One of the most interesting statistics from the presentations came from the Air Force claims representative.

DPS Lock-Down Coming to a Temporary Halt

During early summer, when DPS was struggling to stay online, the decision was made to “lock-down” the DPS system for the rest of the summer peak season. This meant that the only changes, or updates to the DPS system would be to fix critical errors. All improvements, new features, and non-critical fixes were put on hold until peak season ended.

Monthly Report Contains More JPMO-HHGs Leadership News

July’s Monthly Activity Report (MAR) contained the introduction of the new DPS Program Director, Col. Mark Hiryak. The August monthly report introduces Mary Campbell as the new  DPS Program Manager. In the email sent with the report, Col. Hiryak made the following comments about the new leadership position:

Next week, the International Association of Movers will be holding their 49th Annual Meeting… in Denver, Colorado. Is PPSO Regionalization Good for the Invoicing Process?

USTRANSCOM recently formally announced their plans to consolidate all PPSO offices into 11 regional JPPSOs. There will be a lot of speculation about the effects of regionalization, and we would like to speculate about its effect on the invoicing process. Fortunately, we currently have a number of JPPSOs already in place, so our opinions are based in large part on our past experience with those existing JPPSOs.
