DPS SIT Conversion Issue Clarified

Last month, we wrote about the continued confusion surrounding the issue of SIT conversion in DPS. We have yet to see the written guidance from SDDC on the topic of conversion from SIT, but some continued conversations on the DPS invoicing calls may have helped to clarify the issue.

On the April 8th DPS invoicing call, a TSP asked a question about this issue, and the response from SDDC confirmed that the TSP is entitled to SIT until the shipment is converted in DPS.  The minutes from the April 8th call were released today, and reflect SDDC’s answer:

Issue Number: T0182-D

Question: 04/08/10 – Pertaining to the number of days SIT should be billed.  What is the accurate number of days, if a shipment has not been converted to members’ expense in DPS, but delivered out of SIT.

Submitter: Mike Grimes – Planes Moving & Storage

Answer: 04/08/10 – TSPs are entitled to storage until the shipment is converted to members’ expense in DPS.  SDDC has to take another look at the conversion aspect of SIT and send out a flash message to TSPs and PPSOs.  Example will be sent into the billing box.

On today’s call, during a discussion of a different PPSO that was refusing to allow the TSP to bill for the full storage time until conversion, SDDC suggested that these minutes be provided to any PPSOs taking that position, at least until the written guidance from SDDC is released. SDDC stated that they hoped to have the message out sometime next week, and it would include this guidance, as well as some other information about the SIT conversion process.
