April 3-9 DPS WAR Report

A few notes from the most recent DPS/DP3 WAR report covering April 3-9:

• Decision to use PPM and change the JFTR being worked by the services.  Next per diem MAP 13 Apr, Tue.  Next likely date for PPM “go live” is 15 Apr…6 days and counting! (from  Executive Summary by Col. Miller)
• Upcoming GOSC:  The co-chairs are looking to hold the next GOSC in the DC area in about mid May.  More details to come. (from  Executive Summary by Col. Miller)
• Release 1.4.02:  For delivery to the JPMO in early Jun and into production late Jun.  Includes the 24 top-ranked software problem reports (SPRs).  ON TRACK… (from  Executive Summary by Col. Miller)
• The DPS system experienced two different performance issues this week; intermittent login difficulties and an emergency outage.
  • Intermittent login difficulties (6 hrs):  There were five instances (approx 6 hrs total) where a portion of our user community experienced difficulties or delays in logging into the system.  This impacted less than 20% of the user base.  The cause was a network communications configuration issue with one of the servers.  We are monitoring this particular server, and we are working to resolve the underlying transaction failure that is occurring on an intermittent basis.
  • Emergency outage (3.5 hrs):  We also incurred a 3.5 hour outage on 5 Apr 2010.  A different network related issue was impacting the ability to log into DPS.  To resolve this required a down time to load new Network Interface Card (NIC) drivers on the servers.  We took this opportunity to add two additional Siebel servers to the system per our server repurposing plan. • CSS:  CSS 12.49% and iCSS 25.64% (from 04/08/09 through 04/07/10) for a total response rate of 22.33%.  Response rates for March 2010 were: iCSS 47.13%, CSS 14.11%, Total 35.70%. (from Customer Satisfaction Report by Mike Dobbs)
