Alaska Shipments to Start Moving in DPS
This morning, SDDC notified TSPs and PPSOs that effective today, shipments to and from Alaska can now be booked in DPS. No Alaska shipments had been allowed previously due to problems with the DPS rating engine incorrectly rating the LHS portion of any Alaska shipment.
We did submit a test Alaska invoice to the DPS test system on November 17th, and the invoice was rated correctly by the DPS rating engine. While we would have liked the ability to test a few more invoices before the “all-clear” was given, we will be monitoring the first few Alaska invoices in DPS production very closely and will report the results.
The good news here is that JPMO-HHGS and SDDC are continuing to work towards a solution on the Alaska invoicing problem. There have been some concerns, in light of SDDC exploring changes to the way Alaska shipments are bid and invoiced, that the fix for the current Alaska shipments would be put on the back burner until a decision was made on whether or not to make those changes. This message today indicates that is not part of the plan.
