Progress on Alaska?
Since the start of DPS, invoicing Alaska shipments under the 400NG tariff has been problematic. Despite numerous patches, updates, bug fixes, every time we billed an Alaskan invoice in the DPS test or production system, the Linehaul rating was always off by a large amount.
PPSOs were apparently instructed to no longer book Alaska shipments in DPS, but we still see a trickle of Alaska invoices through our office, either due to shipments previously booked, or PPSOs not aware of the problems with Alaska. Recently, we discovered something unusual in reviewing some of these Alaska DPS invoices. Certain Alaska 400NG invoices that we have billed have actually had the Linehaul rated and paid correctly by DPS. This is the first time we have ever seen this happen, either in the DPS test system, or in the production system.
However, it is important to note that although we have seen some Alaska LHS line items rate correctly, we have also seen just as many fail to rate at all due to a “Domestic Costing internal query error.” In short, it looks like about half of them can’t be rated at all, but that the ones that can be rated are being rated correctly. That is the first sign of good news we have ever had on DPS Alaskan invoicing, and hopefully shows we are close to getting this issue resolved once and for all.
