DPS Invoice Transmission Problem
Update (2/2/09): Friday afternoon we were able to confirm that the invoices which had been held up for the previous week, had successfully been transmitted to DPS. We have not received word from anyone informing us of the cause of the transmission problem, but it does appear to be fixed and invoices are now moving between PowerTrack and DPS.
In the early days of implementing CWA and PowerTrack, we were plagued by many transmission errors, when files would not make it from one system to the other. During the process of testing DPS invoicing, we have seen some transmission errors, but they had all been resolved and we were hopeful we wouldn’t see any in the DPS production environment. Unfortunately, it looks like we currently have a significant transmission problem in DPS Production.
We had some intermittent transmission problems late last week, and this week, none of the DPS invoices we have sent are showing up in DPS. They have been successfully received by PowerTrack, but they have not made it to the DPS server. Since it is impossible for us to know the source of the problem, we have attempted to open help desk tickets with both PowerTrack and DPS. We have been working with PowerTrack to troubleshoot from their side, but we have not yet received a response from the DPS help desk. We have also alerted the DPS Invoicing test team of the issues we are seeing. So far, we have not received any indication about the cause of the problem or the expected resolution date, but we will pass on any updates.

I was curious if anyone is having trouble with obtaining SIT numbers through DPS. I have received 2 DPS shipments inbound to the San Diego, CA area, and both times it took almost all day for the carrier to obtain a SIT number, because there was a problem with DPS accepting the SIT information. The last one took almost 6 hours to get an SIT number from FISC San Diego, after DPS wouldn’t issue one.
