Services Request DPS Implementation Delay

At the JPPSO-COS Regional Industry Meeting, Col. Holt announced that a joint letter was sent today from the Military Services Headquarters to USTRANSCOM concerning the implementation schedule of DPS. To paraphrase the letter, the Services stated that they believed that DPS, in its current form, does not meet the goals and objectives of Phase II of Families First. The Services further stated that they would not participate in DPS until October 1st, 2008. They encouraged JPMO-HHGS to use this delay to conduct true end-to-end testing of DPS prior to implementation.

It is important to note that only USTRANSCOM and SDDC can officially delay the implementation of DPS. As of right now, no delay has been announced to the current implementation schedule. However, between the GAO protest and this letter from the Services, it does appear that there is a growing sentiment to push back the start date.
