19 Years of Experience

Being almost the longest employed person in this office, I would like to introduce you to our very own Jo Alexander. With 19 years under her belt Jo has not only managed to gain many years worth of knowledge in this industry, but has also been able to fill her fellow co-workers with 19 years worth of her wonderful cooking and baking! Jo is known widely throughout the office for all of the delicious food that she makes – especially her homemade caramels, her apple bars, and all of her different homemade soups.

Starting with The Day Companies in March of 1987, Jo was hired as an Auditor in the production room. As the years went by she quickly became an asset in many different areas of the company. She soon started training all of our new billers and auditors that were hired, and eventually moved over to our customer support department. Today she is one of our Internal Customer Support Specialists, answering questions on shipments that are in Work in Progress (WIP), monitoring/updating our solicitations, and doing research on any short-paid invoices from the finance centers. Out of everything that Jo takes care of in a day, the favorite part of her job is “Working with her co-workers and the carriers, finding answers to problem shipments, and just being involved in what needs to be done each day.”

Jo is definitely very involved in the community, her church, and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Event. She is on our company Relay team, and is also a member of the Planning Committee. Even though she lives here in Norfolk, Jo is always able to stay busy with all of her family – even if they do live 520 miles away in Colorado! Her daughter Paula and her husband David have 2 children, and her son Chad and his wife Jody have 2 children as well. “Grandma Jo” heads west-bound many times throughout the year to visit everyone, and always has many pictures to share when she returns home! In her spare time Jo enjoys spending time at their cabin on Big Stone Lake, SD, golfing, gardening, knitting, and watching football. She also enjoys “Being Grandma to the many children in my life.”
